California Native Garden and Orchard
San Fernando Valley

This was a delightful project to design and install. The garden is located in a very hot and exposed corner of the San Fernando Valley. The space had lain idle for many years and some native oaks had taken hold. We kept the oaks and designed around them creating a pleasant space that combined fruit trees, a wild hedgerow, with an assortment of California Natives.
Self-seeding wildflowers create an ever changing tapestry of colour each Spring. The fruit trees have dedicated irrigation bubblers and the native plants a separate irrigation system as they require considerably less water than edibles.
